For this episode Russell goes back to the nineteen-seventies with a discussion of his list of ‘Key Albums of the Seventies’, and a look at the fascinating (and sobering) leaded-unleaded petrol wars of that decade, featuring some groovy Amoco ad soundtracks. Moving closer to the present, there’s also a review of Pearl Jam’s new album Gigatron, copious Abba love, some nerdy librarian talk about ‘shelfies’ and a necessary retraction (and plug) about the Bandcamp app. Oh no!

This episode includes the following reference links:

Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey

Australian Amoco Ad 1972

Here’s one of Russell’s ‘shelfies’. Note the skull-themed shelf paper. The horror!

    • Um, those two album are there to represent punk, and are the ‘key’ punk albums, imo, although of course a bunch of others were great. NOt sure about your complaint, Rui. You do know the list is in no particular order, certainly not best to least? Otherwise, thanks for responding and taking the time to show interest. Your comments well appreciated. Cheers.
